1. An obligation shall be deemed an alternative obligation if its subject includes
multiple things the performance of any of which releases the debtor. The
debtor shall have the right to choose the thing to perform, unless an
agreement or a legal provision stipulates otherwise.
2. If the party who has the right to choose, whether a creditor or a debtor, fails
to choose, or if the right to choose is held by multiple persons, whether
creditors or debtors, and they fail to agree on a choice, the court shall set a
deadline for choosing the subject of the obligation. If such deadline lapses,
the right to choose shall devolve to the other party.
