1. The lessor of a vessel may request to distrain the goods owned by the charterer which are on board the vessel to collect the hire and related expenses due to him at the port of destination specified in the charterparty, unless he is provided with a security for payment as determined by the competent court. 2. Subject to the provisions of the GCC Unified Customs Law and its Implementing Regulations, the court shall, in case the lessor invokes his right to distrain the goods, order the goods to be discharged from the vessel and deposited with a receiver appointed thereby; it may also order the sale of the goods or part thereof to pay out the hire and hire-related expenses and set a date for the sale and determine its method of execution.
