1. The consignor shall pay the freight. If the freight is due upon arrival, the person who has the right to receive the goods shall pay the same if he Commercial Maritime Law accepts receipt of the goods. 2. If the bill of lading does not mention the amount of freight payable on arrival, it shall be presumed that the carrier received the full freight at the time of loading, and it shall not be permissible to prove the contrary thereof against a third party who was unaware, at the time of acquiring the bill of lading, that the freight or part thereof is still due. 3. The consignor or the person entitled to receive the goods shall not be absolved from paying the freight for the carriage thereof, even if they are damaged or have diminished in quantity or value during the voyage.
