Court proceedings may be suspended by agreement of the litigants for a period not exceeding six months following approval of such agreement by the court. Said suspension shall have no effect on any time limitation set by the law for a particular proceeding. A litigant may, subject to the approval of the adverse party, petition proceeding with the case prior to expiration of the agreed- upon period. If the litigants do not resume the case proceedings within the 10 days following the end of the specified period, the plaintiff shall be deemed to have abandoned his case.
