The Ministry shall undertake the following procedures to regulate and manage fishing
ports:
1. Managing the port by organizing the entry and exit of marine vessels; it may refuse
the entry or stay of marine vessels that endanger the safety of the port or impair its
proper use;
2. Coordinating with the competent agencies to take the necessary measures in the
event of any marine pollution inside the port;
3. Taking statistical data from fishermen pursuant to the statistical programs prepared
for this purpose by way of specialists in counting living aquatic resources. All fishing
workers shall cooperate and provide the required statistical data;
4. In the event that a marine vessel is abandoned or sunken inside the port, the Ministry
shall instruct its owner or captain in writing or by announcing through appropriate
media to recover and move said vessel outside the port within the period specified
by the Ministry. Should the owner fail to respond, the Ministry shall take the
necessary measures at his expense.
