Any judgment rendered on the subject matter of a criminal action shall decidethe claims of private right and the claims of the accused, unless the court determines that a decision on those claims requires conducting a special investigation resulting in a delay in determination of the criminal case. In such event, the court shall render a judgment in the criminal case and defer ruling of such claims, pending completion of relevant proceedings.
