The attending healthcare professional shall, if he sees a need for a second
opinion, alert the patient or his family thereof, and he shall agree to seek
assistance from other healthcare professionals if so requested by the patient or
his family. The healthcare professional may suggest names of healthcare
professionals he deems fit for consultation.
If the attending healthcare professional decides that there is no need to consult
another healthcare professional or disagrees with his opinion upon
consultation, he shall have the right to discontinue treatment, with no obligation
on his part to justify the same.
