A healthcare professional shall, after explaining the treatment or surgery
involved and the outcome thereof, alert the patient or his family to the necessity
of following the instructions provided and he shall warn them of the
consequences of failing to follow said instructions.
A physician may, in cases of incurable or life threatening diseases, decide, at
his own discretion, whether it is appropriate to inform the patient or his family
of the nature of his disease, unless prohibited to do so by the patient or if the
patient designates one person or more to be exclusively informed.
