The infrastructure manager and the operator shall, each within their respective area of operation and responsibility, set and update safety management systems, ensure the efficiency of such systems, and maintain the documents thereof, in accordance with the procedures provided for in the Regulations, in order to ensure the following: 1. The safety of railway services provided, and the safe operation of their assets. 2. The health and safety of all employees during the performance of their duties and of persons entering places under the control of the infrastructure manager or the operator.
