If a woman’s husband dies while observing iddah due to khul’, dissolution of marriage, or
irrevocable divorce, she shall complete her iddah and shall not observe the iddah prescribed
for death, unless the divorce occurs during a fatal illness and such divorce is not made
pursuant to the wife’s request; in such case, she shall observe the longer of the two iddah
periods.
