1. The acceptance or rejection of a bequest shall not necessarily be made immediately after a testator’s death. 2. If a legatee fails to accept or reject a bequest, any person entitled to the inheritance or bequest or the execution thereof may petition the court to deliver a notice to this effect to the legatee. The court shall grant the legatee a grace period not exceeding 30 days from the date of said notice to accept the bequest. If the legatee fails to respond and does not provide the court with an acceptable justification, the legatee shall be deemed to have rejected the bequest. If the legatee is a legal person, the court shall determine the appropriate period for acceptance or rejection. Family Law
