Marriage shall be temporarily prohibited in the following cases: 1. The marriage of a man to a woman observing iddah [the period during which a widow or divorcee may not marry another man due to the death of or marital separation from the husband]. 2. The marriage of a man to his divorcee, whom he has divorced in a major irrevocable divorce, subject to the provisions of Article 85 of this Law. 3. The marriage of a man to more than four women, even if one of the women is still observing iddah following a revocable or irrevocable divorce or a dissolution of marriage. 4. The marriage of a man to his wife’s sister, or to his wife’s paternal or maternal aunt. 5. The marriage of a man while in the state of Ihram for Hajj or Umrah before ending his Ihram. 6. The marriage of a Muslim man to a non-Muslim woman, unless she is of the People of the Book (Kitabiyya). 7. The marriage of a Muslim woman to a non-Muslim man.
