45. Hot Works on Ships in Repair Dockyard or on the Wharfs. 1. A request for conducting hot work shall include: 1.1 Port Name; 1.2 Ship Name; 1.3 Ship Type; 1.4 IMO Number; 1.5 Welding Type; 1.6 Welding Site; 1.7 Requestor Name; 1.8 Permit Number; 1.9 Date of Work; 1.10 Work Duration; 1.11 Shipping Agent; and 1.12 Contact Numbers. 2. When requesting the execution of such works, the following safety guidelines shall be followed: 2.1 Ensure that the work supervisor is fully knowledgeable about using firefighting equipment and shall remain on-site for at least half an hour after work completion to ensure the site safety. 2.2 Provide safety protective measures for the fixed equipment around the site and flammable materials. 2.3 Keep flammable materials at least 12 meters away from the welding site. 2.4 Provide appropriate fire extinguishers before commencing welding (as specified by the port's safety officer). 2.5 Conduct the welding work on designated holders, away from cargo, and the site shall be clean and free of oils. 2.6 Ensure adequate ventilation upon conducting welding work in indoor areas. 2.7 Ensure that welders use suitable shields, helmets, and protective gloves and wear suitable protective clothing. Operating Regulation 2.8 Ensure that, after usage, gas cylinder valves are closed and kept away from any source of artificial flame or natural flame such as the sun. 2.9 Ensure that cylinders of welding gas (Leister or Oxygen), their valves, and associated hoses are in good condition. 2.10 Clear the welding area of all personnel except the welders. 2.11 Before welding containers or tanks containing flammable materials, ensure that they are washed with water several times and thoroughly cleaned. The welding shall only be conducted after testing such containers or tanks and confirming that they are free of any traces of flammable materials. 2.12 Check the wind speed if the welding is conducted in an open area to avoid damage caused by strong winds. 2.13 Keep cylinders in a vertical position upon transporting and welding. 2.14 Permits will be revoked and fines will be imposed if all safety requirements are not followed, or if the permit is used at a different site. 2.15 Hot work permits shall be issued only in the morning shift, except in emergencies. 46. Maintenance or Testing of Shipboard Equipment 1. The request for maintenance or testing of shipboard equipment shall include the following information: 1.1 Port Name; 1.2 Ship Name; 1.3 Ship Type; 1.4 IMO Number; 1.5 Work Type; 1.6 Brief Description of the Request; 1.7 Requestor Name; 1.8 Permit Number; 1.9 Date of Work; 1.10 Work Duration; 1.11 Shipping Agent; and 1.12 Contact Numbers. 2. Upon requesting the execution of such work, the following safety guidelines shall be followed: 2.1 Ensure that necessary permits are obtained from the technical departments (Marine Inspection and Industrial Security) before commencing maintenance work. Operating Regulation 2.2 Ensure that the power is switched off before commencing maintenance work. 2.3 Ensure the availability of suitable spare parts for maintenance. 2.4 Provide the workforce with instructions and guidelines before commencing work, including entry into enclosed and poorly ventilated spaces, specifying the oxygen levels inside them, as well as safety and occupational health instructions. 2.5 Ensure that the work supervisor is fully knowledgeable about using firefighting equipment and shall remain on-site for at least half an hour after work to ensure the site safety. 2.6 Provide safety protective measures for the fixed equipment around the site and flammable materials. 2.7 Keep flammable materials at least (12) meters away from the maintenance site. 2.8 Provide appropriate fire extinguishers before maintenance, as specified by the port's safety officer. 2.9 Conduct the maintenance work on designated holders, away from cargo, and the site shall be clean and free of oils. 2.10 Ensure adequate ventilation during work in indoor areas. 2.11 The workforce involved in maintenance should use appropriate protective helmets and gloves and wear suitable protective clothing. 2.12 Ensure that only authorized individuals exist in the maintenance area. 2.13 Check the wind speed if the maintenance site is located at an outdoor area to avoid damage from strong winds. 2.14 Permits will be revoked and fines will be imposed if all safety requirements are not followed or the permit is used at a different site.
