1. Maternity allowance shall be 100 percent of the average monthly contributory wage or salary of
the 12 months preceding the date of delivery.
2. Notwithstanding Article 53(1) of this Law, maternity allowance shall be payable as of the first day
of the month in which the delivery occurs. The contributor may request to receive said allowance
one month prior to the expected date of delivery.
3. Maternity allowance may not be combined with a wage or salary.
The Regulations shall specify the rules and procedures necessary for the application of this Article.
